Inglemoor High boys soccer squad scores state 4A academic title

Inglemoor High’s boys soccer team was named the state 4A academic champion for 2018 and the Vikings received the award at halftime of the boys state 4A final match in May (Pasco beat Skyline, 1-0). The cumulative grade-point average for the 22 players on the team was 3.62. Team members with grade level (and university that they will attend in the fall where applicable) include:

Keeane Speed (Cal Poly San Luis Obispo), senior; Caleb Travis (Edmonds Community College), senior; Rory Eastland-Fruit (Colorado College), senior; Owen Klee, junior; Wesley Muelhausen (Gonzaga University), senior; Isaac Arreola (University of Washington-Bothell), senior; Farrell Mahmud (Western Washington University), senior; Naz Astudillo (Whitworth University), senior; Lucas Hakamada, freshman; Timur Akdemir, junior; Janick Gold, junior; Ryan Klee (Pacific Lutheran University), senior; Nic Grotle, junior; Sebastian Priss (University of Washington), senior; Peter Lie, sophomore; Ben Tyler, junior; Conor Nolan, junior; Tasman Lynch, freshman; Berk Uzuncaova, junior; Gabriel Fahling, junior; Jadin Ramsey, junior; Ben Freeman, freshman.

Coach Kevin McGibbon said in Northshore School District Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid’s weekly blog: “The commitment of the team to perform both in the classroom and on the field is inspiring. This is a group that has met the challenge head on of achieving both on the field and in the classroom, and along with their mastery of team dynamics portends a bright future for all members of the team.”

Each of the graduating seniors has finalized plans to attend college this fall, four members of the team carry a full International Baccalaureate load, including three who were taking seven classes each day. In addition, there are three members taking Running Start classes, getting a jump on their college academics.
