Bothell Blue Train rolls past Mullen, 31-28, in nationally televised game | Prep Football

Kyler Parris kicked a game-winning 32-yard field goal with 6:47 minutes left in the fourth quarter to give Bothell High a thrilling 31-28 victory over visiting JK Mullen High from Denver, Colorado, Friday night at Pop Keeney Stadium.

Following Parris’ boot, the Cougar defense held tough for the win, which featured three passing touchdowns and one running score from Bothell quarterback Jacob Sirmon in the ESPNU-televised game.

After Bothell went down 14-0 in the first quarter, the Cougar signal caller began his team’s 28-point scoring spree with a 1-yard TD run and then three TD passes: a 31-yarder to Riley Morrison, a 10-yarder to Da’ Vicious Wilson and a 13-yarder to Christian Galvan.

Bothell went up 21-14 at halftime and notched a 28-14 lead early in the third quarter before Mullen chipped away and knotted the score at 28-28 with about eight minutes to go in the game.

Sirmon was 24-for-39 for 395 yards passing and Wilson caught 12 passes for 167 yards and nabbed three interceptions.

According to Pop Keeney manager Steve Simpson, it was smooth sailing on Friday night, ESPNU’s crew was great to work with and a big crowd was on hand. At the 7 p.m. kickoff time, 2,700 people were on hand with more arriving after that, said Simpson, adding that Mullen brought a wealth of fans (Bothell High athletic director Yonni Mills said on Friday that Mullen brought about 100 fans). The final count was 3,950 fans with Pop Keeney’s capacity at 5,309.

* In other Friday night action, Issaquah defeated North Creek, 42-0, and Granite Falls beat Cedar Park Christian, 23-9.

For Cedar Park, Jason He scored on an 83-yard run and Bradley Cumley kicked a 29-yard field goal.

The Eagles’ He ran the ball 20 times for 152 yards, and on defense, Payton Nelson had seven tackles and six assisted tackles and Matthew Duffy snagged an interception.

* On Saturday, Skyline beat Inglemoor, 41-13.

For Inglemoor, Luke Millman scored on an 8-yard pass from AJ Baldwin and Kyle Loken scored on a 64-yard run.

Loken ran the ball three times for 78 yards and Riley Mersberg had nine carries for 73 yards. Quentin Moore had four catches for 39 yards.

Defensively for the Vikings, Kincaid Schmitt had four tackles, Blake Berlin had three tackles and four assisted tackles and Trevor Thurman had three tackles and three assisted tackles.
