Students, parents take advantage of Back to School Fair

On Aug. 16, hundreds of students and their parents took advantage of the Northshore School District’s Back to School Fair.

In partnership with the Northshore Human Services Consortium and other human service organizations, the district hosted the free event at Canyon Park Middle School, located at 23723 23rd Ave. S.E. in Bothell.

Various organizations manned booths in the common area and handed out important information to parents, such as maps of the school district and school start times. In the gym, students had the opportunity to get a free hair cut.

In the courtyard, families filled themselves on hamburgers, veggie burgers and hot dogs.

Local packs from Boy Scouts of America were also onsite showcasing their soap box derby cars, allowing children to race the little wooden cars down a track.

The district’s first day of school for grades 1-12 is Sept. 6. The first day of school for kindergartners is Sept. 11.
