Construction at Moorlands Park, 15221 84th Ave. N.E. in Kenmore has begun and the park will be closed to the public this summer and fall.
A-1 Landscaping and Construction of Snohomish will be completing the improvements over the summer and fall. Work will include all-new play equipment, a picnic shelter, restroom, paths, a small outdoor stage, signage, irrigation, landscaping and ball field upgrades such as new backstop, infield, outfield under-drainage and equipment storage shed.
While the park is anticipated to reopen late in 2017, the ball field will be closed for another full year, until January 2019, while the outfield grass fills in sufficiently to support use.
Last year, Kenmore was awarded $637,520 in grants from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office to help fund the renovation. The 70-year-old park is home to the only ball field owned by the city and the upgrade will help to meet the City of Kenmore’s sports leagues’ need for local game-quality fields.
