Despite wrapping up the regular season with a perfect conference record and the No. 1 spot in the RPI ratings, the Bothell High girls basketball team will miss the Class 4A state tournament.
Bothell lost to Woodinville in the 4A KingCo Conference championship game on Feb. 16, then lost to Eastlake, 83-65, on Saturday in a loser-out conference tournament game to decide the final spot in the upcoming regional round of the state playoffs.
Bothell (19-4) trailed by more than 20 points in the game and gave up a season-high in points — and by a long shot.
The Cougars were expected to contend for a state championship, but instead fall short of the state tournament bracket.
It was the final game for a talented senior class, including two-time conference MVP Taya Corosdale, who will play at Oregon State next winter. Guard Keyonna Jones, a first-team, all-conference selection, will play at Western Oregon.
Lacey Shulke, Sydney Cowan, Jada Romulus and Nichole Leadley are also seniors.
Eastlake and Woodinville will represent 4A KingCo in the regional round, which is scheduled to take place on Friday and Saturday at approved sites around the state.
