The Bothell High gymnastics team finished second at the Class 4A District 2 championships on Feb. 11 in Ballard, earning a ticket to the state championships this weekend in Tacoma.
Bothell finished just behind Woodinville to qualify as a team.
State-bound gymnasts include those on the top two teams, the top three all-around individuals and the top eight individuals in each event not already qualified for state.
Bothell’s Erin Clayton finished fourth in all-around with 36.775 points. Clayton was second in the beam with a score of 9.55 and second in the floor routine with a 9.475. Clayton also tied for third in the vault and took eighth in the bars.
Bothell’s Ella Simmons was third in the beam and teammate Saiyann Reyes finished in a tie for eighth in all-around.
Other Bothell qualifiers include Noe Calimlim, who scored a 9.1 on the floor, and Hannah Shull, who scored a 9.2 on the beam. Mada Sylvan, Morgan Wyatt and Eva Zaro also qualified.
Inglemoor finished fifth as a team with 159.925 points. Issaquah was sixth, Skyline seventh and Eastlake eighth. Woodinville had 183 points, and Bothell had 173.8.
Inglemoor’s Claire Gorman scored an 8.7 in the bars for fourth place overall, qualifying for state. Teammate Emilee Staniforth qualified in the vault and Amelia Stout and Carmen Gonzalez both qualified in the bars.
Stout also qualified in the beam, and Kim Kramers was an all-around qualifier.
The state championships are scheduled to begin on Feb. 16 in the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall. The Class 4A schedule begins at 1 p.m. on Feb. 17, with the finals set for the following day.
