Award winners have been announced for “Youth Art,” a juried exhibit showcasing 26 Pacific Northwest artists.
The fourth annual youth exhibit features 28 works employing a wide variety of applications.
“Young artists never fail to exhilarate the senses and embody modern culture, technique and technology beyond their age,” said gallery curator Sara Solum Hayashi. “This is a tough competition and it’s inspiring that many local students use this platform to build portfolios for college entrance.”
Awards were presented in three categories.
Ages 9-12: first place, “Fiz” by Sasha Goodner, Kirkland; second place, “Drake Wood Duck” by Teagan Gonzales, Bothell; third place “Bird’s Joy” by Yuetong (Kyra) Li, Lynnwood.
Ages 13-15: first place, “Silhouette” by Maisie Patterson, Kenmore; second place, “Flowing Colors” by Margaret Wang, Mukilteo; third place, “Watery Leaves” by Lucy Toner, Bothell.
Ages 16-18: first place, “The Girl with the Pearl Earring with Japanese Writing” by Asaki Nelson, Redmond; second place, “Fifth and Main” by Shawn Lee, Bothell; third place, “A Window in Venice” by Angelus McNally, Redmond.
Artists accepted into the juried show include Jamie Campbell, Robert Gerth, Syndey Goodner, Ivette Ivanov, Natalie Keys, Paige Marler, Andrew McMullen, Melissa Mitchell, Chandana Mudeppa, Jennifer Salaiz, Samay Sayala, Zoë Strand, Angie Wang, Jenny Zhan, Jasmine Zhang, Sophie Zhang, and Hanghong Zuo.
The show continues the Arts of Kenmore Gallery in Kenmore City Hall through Jan. 28 after a well-attended opening reception last month.
The show is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays and admission is free. Artworks are available for sale at artsofkenmore.org.
