Harry E. Jones
Harry Earl Jones, age 80 of Bothell, Wash., passed away at 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at an assisted living facility in Kirkland, WA after a lengthy illness.Born October 22, 1932 in Joplin, he was the son of the late Raymond Earl Jones and Mary Ann Brooks Jones and graduated from Joplin High School and attended Joplin Junior College. Harry served overseas with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He met his wife, Heidi Dierschke Jones, who was from Germany, while serving in Japan. She preceded him in death. He received his Bachelors Degree from University of Washington in engineering. Harry worked for Boeing, Inc. and later became an inventor and researcher.He had many hobbies. He loved sailing and had a 40’ sailboat. He was an avid cyclist, having won gold medals well into his 50’s. He also was a Mercedes-Benz and Alpha Romeo enthusiast, belonging to both car clubs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Jones, who was a Sports Editor for the Carthage Press in Missouri.Survivors include two sisters, Linda Olson of Golden, MO, Marcia Gleeson of Kewanee, IL; many nieces and nephews.Family and friends will gather Saturday, November 24, 12:45 p.m. at Parker Mortuary for a brief service. Graveside services with military honors will follow at Ozark Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
