Kenmore’s first-ever city manager, Steve Anderson, will resign from his current position to become the Bothell Deputy City Manager beginning Aug. 11.

His new job currently has a maximum salary of $132,816.

The city of Bothell announced Anderson’s hiring on July 11.

“I’m delighted to join the City of Bothell,” he stated in a press release from the city of Bothell. “This is an excellent professional change for me as I’m excited about Bothell’s future and can leverage community relationships to enhance the overall Bothell organization.”

Anderson did not reply to a request from The Reporter to provide comments prior tothe July 14 deadline.

Anderson will be responsible for a majority of the daily city operations for Bothell, and will supervise various department directors and staff, according to his job description.

He will report directly Bothell City Manager Bob Stowe, whose position is focused on City Council relations and high-level visioning for the municipal corporation, according to the release.

“As the City heads into its next 100 years, Steve has a unique opportunity to be an integral part of this staff team and help build the community’s future together,” Stowe said. “He is a valuable addition to the City of Bothell with his vast experience.”

Anderson managed all services for the city of Kenmore, overseeing a $52 million budget.

Prior to that, he implemented an interim comprehensive plan as city manager for the City of Edgewood and worked as an assistant city manager for the city of Federal Way.
