Giving thanks to Kenmore officers and students | Letter

Recently, I was honored to represent the King County Sheriff’s Office at the graduation ceremony for freshmen at Kenmore Junior High. Principal Tim Gordon and Kenmore Mayor David Baker presented certificates and resolutions to Kenmore Police Chief Cliff Sether and school resource officers Mark Childers, Gary Zornes and Jeff Durrant, thanking them for their service to Kenmore schools and the Kenmore students.

As a fellow law-enforcement officer, we all appreciate the community and the school district expressing their support and thanks to our officers. But, what struck me the most was the atmosphere at the school itself. Mr. Gordon thanked the students for making the 90 minutes in his day of supervising lunch periods some of the best, because he enjoyed interacting with them so much. The teachers, counselors and staff of the school clearly were proud not only of their school, but even more of their students.
