Cub Scouts and their parents from Pack 584 of Bothell filled sandbags at the Bothell Operations Center to replenish the city’s supply. With shovels and smiles, the 21 Cub Scouts filled between 350 and 400 sandbags to provide the city with 10 pallets worth of sandbags – enough to get the city through the rainy season for at least two years.

“The timing of this service project couldn’t have been better,” said Cubmaster Kevin Devin. “The city had just utilized the last of their supply of filled sandbags during the series of storms that blew through the area earlier in the week.”

Cub Scout Pack 584, chartered by the First Lutheran Church of Bothell, seek to perform four service projects per program year ranging from clearing invasive plants and planting native trees to collecting food for local food banks to filling sandbags to cleaning up local schools. The boys from the pack use these opportunities for earning their Citizenship Belt Loop or their Citizenship Activity Pin.
