In her bid for U.S. Congress in the 1st Congressional District open seat, Bothell-based Suzan DelBene today received the endorsements of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers District 751 and the Joint Council of Teamsters No. 28.
“It’s a tremendous honor to receive the endorsement of two organizations who represent thousands of hard-working members in the 1st Congressional district. Both the Machinists and Teamsters unions are tireless advocates for working families, fighting on their behalf day in and day out,” said DelBene.
She added, “I’m running for Congress to stand up for the middle class, to make sure people have a fair chance at economic success and security. For me, it’s personal. I know how important it is to ensure everyone has access to a great education and affordable health care so they have a chance at success. I know the members of the Machinists and Teamsters share those values with me.”
The Joint Council of Teamsters No. 28 represents more than 50,000 members in Washington. More than 7,000 Teamster members are in the newly drawn 1st Congressional District.
The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, AFL-CIO District 751 represents the 45,000 active and retired workers at The Boeing Company in Puget Sound. In addition, District 751 represents many workers throughout Washington at various companies in a number of trades such as aluminum workers, heavy-duty mechanics, welder fabricators and many others.
