King County Parks and 4Culture commissioned Seattle-based artist Kristen Ramirez to create a colorful mural along the Burke-Gilman Trail in the Wayne Tunnel, a 250-foot-long passageway under 96th Avenue Northeast in Bothell.
Ramirez will be on site daily from July 7–18, painting the mural with the help of volunteers from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. While the trail will remain open during the project, traffic will be reduced to one side of the trail and cyclists will be asked to dismount. Trail traffic will be managed by King County Parks and project volunteers.
This project was made possible by King County’s 1 percent for Art Program, which comes from capital construction budgets to support public art that visually enhances County property and creates a sense of ownership and community.
