Get back to your roots with some old-time, good time songs performed by Cahalen Morrison and Eli West. They will be playing their tunes tomorrow from 6-8 p.m. at Saint Edward State Park. This local Seattle band has brought back the good times in their music.
Old-time music is a type of folk music, which Morrison and West describe as “vibrantly alive.” Their nostalgic songs live up to the vibrancy and remind you that the simpler times are within reach, just by listening to Morrison and West’s songs. The duet has created the perfect blend of mesmerizing string instruments and lyrics that are true to life.
Morrison and West are making waves in their genre, notable folk artists such as Tim O’Brien have said, “Cahalan and Eli are making music that the world needs.” And Dirk Powell complementing the duo on their “The Holy Coming of the Storm” album released in 2010, “Cahalen and Eli bring us the great musician’s willingness to hold things back, to keep the tension strung, to cherish the beauty and not let it all out at once…”
The two have recorded three albums together, the most recent, “I’ll Swing My Hammer With Both My Hands” released this year. West brings an old time bluegrass feel but with a modern spin and Morrison keeps the old fashioned and simplicity sounds. The two have married their distinct sounds together to make a well-crafted and true vibe.
