Cascadia Community College and Bismarck State College in North Dakota recently signed an articulation agreement that provides an opportunity for students in Cascadia’s environmental technologies and sustainable practices program to easily pursue a bachelor’s degree at Bismarck. This partnership helps meet a need in the energy industry for qualified supervisors and managers by preparing graduates for leadership positions.

Cascadia students who graduate with an associate in applied science degree in environmental technologies and sustainable practices — technology emphasis can apply all their credits toward Bismarck’s bachelor of applied science degree in energy management, which is offered entirely online.

“The industry wants its employees to understand the whole process of energy efficiency. Students who complete both degrees will have that knowledge and will be better prepared for the work force,” says Cascadia Dean for Student Learning Ron Wheadon.

Bismarck’s degree is designed for individuals interested in supervisory and management positions in the energy industry. The program enables students to acquire management skills and knowledge to maximize their potential for attaining high-level leadership positions.

“Bismarck State College has a high-quality program that complements ours very well. Since it is an online program, our students can continue living and working here while pursuing a bachelor’s degree,” says Environmental Technologies and Sustainable Practices faculty Dr. Mel Oyler.
