Local poet, novelist and screenwriter, Sherman Alexie, will speak at Cascadia College’s Mobius Hall as part of the college’s Ideas and Change lecture series at 1:30 p.m. on April 27.

“We are very excited that Sherman will be coming to Cascadia. In many ways he exemplifies Cascadia’s approach to teaching and learning, especially the use of different lenses through which he interprets the world and his ability to think creatively, critically, and reflectively,” said Jared Leising, the chair of Cascadia’s Integrated Learning Committee.

Alexie plans to give a short reading, share stories and observations, and answer audience questions in this event titled “The Business of Fancydancing: Poems, Punch Lines and Highly Biased Anecdotes.”

The event is free and open to the public but parking is $3.

Several Cascadia faculty members in the arts and humanities are designing class assignments around Alexie’s visit. His speaking engagement will be followed by a book signing and reception.
