The Inglemoor High Valhalla Players will be performing “Anastasia,” a comedy in three acts, at 7 p.m. Jan. 20-21 and Jan. 26-28 in the Si Siverson Little Theater on campus.
It was written by Marcelle Maurette, adapted to English by Guy Bolton and will be directed by Inglemoor’s Gretchen Stewart
“Anastasia” is set in Berlin in 1926. In this historical mystery based on true events, a young, confused woman is taken in by a group of Russian exiles and influenced into passing herself off as Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia, the daughter of the murdered Nicholas II of Russia. In the process, her patrons begin to wonder if, perhaps, she may be the real Anastasia after all. The mother of the murdered czar must make the final decision as to whether this young woman is or isn’t Anastasia. This play reflects the rumors prevalent during the early 20th century that the youngest daughter of Nicholas II, last Tsar of Russia, escaped execution with the rest of her royal family.
Tickets will be available at the door: $10 for adults and students without ASB; $7 for students with ASB, seniors, military and children.
