Freestyle specialist Mariah Williamson, a senior at Bothell High, earned a fifth-place finish for her efforts in the 200 freestyle (1:55.08) and topped off her final state swim meet with a fourth in the grueling 500 free, in 5:05.05, which bettered her preliminaries time by over two seconds.
Thomas Jefferson standout Amber Cratsenberg won the race in 4:57.55, the only swimmer to break the five-minute barrier the entire meet.
In the 50 free sprint race, Tiffany Dang qualified seventh and finished in the same spot, swimming a nearly identical time (24.68) as she did in her prelim race (24.67).
Dang’s best swim came in the consolation heat of the 100 backstroke, as she qualified fifth in the heat, but ended up winning it in 59.90 for a ninth-place finish.
The Cougars also had one relay make it into a consolation heat, as Kaiya Knight, Dang, Emily Anthony and Williamson combined to place 13th in the 200 free relay, in 1:44.62.
On the diving board, sophomore Marquesa Dixon began the day in 10th place, and had a phenomenal first dive, a 1 1/2 inward somersault, that netted three perfect “seven” scores from judges.
Unfortunately, Dixon struggled in her final two dives to drop back down to 10th.
As a team, the Cougars placed 17th out of the 41 attending 4A teams.
