Kenmore, Bothell police departments encourage residents to participate in National Night Out on Aug. 7

The 29th annual National Night Out, a crime/drug-prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, is scheduled for Aug. 7. Last year, more than 37 million people in more than 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide participated in the event.

The Kenmore Police Department will host an event at City Hall, 18120 68th Ave. N.E., which will feature free food, activities and crime-prevention information. Time of the event is to be announced; check www.kenmorewa.gov for more information.

Bothell isn’t hosting an event this year, but the police department encourages residents to hold block parties, cookouts and flashlight walks on Aug. 7. People can register to organize a National Night Out event at www.nationaltownwatch.org/nno.
