Playing in a 4A Kingco Crown division matchup against Ballard, Bothell came from behind with four big runs in the sixth inning to squeeze by the Beavers 6-5 at home, and stay unbeaten at 4-0 in league play.
Senior Jon Mercer paced the Cougar offense, going 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs to make a winner out of Eric Gregory, with Brian McAfee contributing a double in the eight-hit attack.
The Cougars are now 6-2 overall and, along with Redmond (5-0, 7-2) is the only team without a loss in conference play.
Vikings’ fast start enough against Garfield
The Inglemoor baseball team scored six runs in the first three innings and staved off a four-run third from the Bulldogs as the Vikings beat Garfield 6-4 in a 4A Kingco Crown Division contest at Garfield High.
Key for the Vikings was starting pitcher Obadiah Taylor’s RBI single in the third inning followed by a RBI double by catcher Blake Wilson that drove in two.
Emmett Maki earned the win in relief, going 3 1/3 innings while striking out five, with Alex Morrow shutting down the Bulldogs in the seventh for the save.
With the win, Inglemoor improved to 2-2 in league play and 5-3 overall.
Cougar fastpitch pours on offense against Liberty
Playing in a non-league affair at home on Thursday, the Bothell fastpitch squad came up big late in an 11-4 win over Liberty in six innings.
Leading the way for the Cougars were seniors Kendra Heyer and Tracey Rider, who each notched two hits and two RBIs in their team’s 10-hit attack. In addition, both of Heyer’s base knocks were doubles and she scored twice.
Starting pitcher Savannah Rose earned the win as the Cougars improved to 3-3 overall.
