King County’s Wastewater Treatment Division will host a public meeting to discuss plans to repair and upgrade a major portion of the North Creek Interceptor, an aging sewer line serving the Bothell area since the early 1970s.
The meeting is set for 6:30-8 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Crystal Springs Elementary School Library, 21615 Ninth Ave. S.E. in Bothell.
The North Creek Interceptor Project will ensure sewer system capacity keeps pace with population growth in portions of the City of Bothell and unincorporated Snohomish County.
People are invited to meet project staff, ask questions, and learn about King County’s plan to upgrade nearly two miles of underground pipeline ranging from 36 to 48 inches in diameter.
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2014, and most activity will take place at six locations along the pipeline alignment. Construction methods could vary depending on engineering and environmental requirements. King County staff will also share information about separate plans for maintenance and repair work on a portion of the line that overflows near Thrasher’s Corner during heavy storms.
King County purchased the North Creek Interceptor from the Alderwood Water and Wastewater District in 2001. The pipeline carries wastewater collected from homes and businesses in unincorporated Snohomish County and the City of Bothell for treatment at the Brightwater Treatment Plant north of Woodinville.
Detailed information about the project, including maps, is available.
