Kenmore’s annual Spring Recycling Event was a huge success, with more than 67,000 pounds of recycling materials brought in by citizens.
Of that, more than 36,240 pounds was in scrap metal, appliances and electronic equipment, another 5,780 pounds of scrap wood, 7,800 pounds of shredded paper, more than 9,500 pounds of shredded paper and more.
While many of the items were slated for recycling, some were collected by the Seattle Goodwill for resale through their retail outlets. Proceeds from Goodwill go towards charity and educational programs.
While the spring recycling event is over for this year, there’s sure to be another next year with the success of this year’s recycle-drive.
