Northshore Performing Arts Center called on Bothell community advocates to dance in their production of “Dancing with the Stars” this Saturday.
Northshore stars are Dale Amundsen of Evergreen Washelli, Tom Bainter the head football coach of Bothell High School, Carol Cummings the Bothell chief of police, Carmin Dalziel of Northshore Schools Foundation, Dusty DuBois the owner of Bothell Chiropractic and Wellness and Richard Olson the owner of OlsonDesign Jewelry. Similar to the popular Telelvision show, contestants are paired up with professionals to learn a ballroom dance routine over one week.
The Northshore Stars, smartly costumed and introduced with video clips, will compete for the community’s vote and those of a judging panel, to win the mirror ball trophy. While the votes are counted in the second part of the program, attendees will be treated to a showcase of professional dancing.
This is going to be fun for all of us and a lot of fun to watch,” said Cummings. “In the last few days I have been blown away by the skills of the professional dancers that are working with us. They are really fantastic and I know their demonstration performance is something that shouldn’t be missed.”
Cummings said she decided to be a part of the event to challenge herself and is taking it in stride.
I greatly value people with good senses of humor, especially those who can have fun and have a good laugh, even if it is at themselves,” she said. “This event is filled with people who are funny and willing to take a risk. I’m proud to be a part of it and to have time to get to know the other performers.”
Olsen said the only dancing experience he has had was Friday nights when he was at high school.
“I decided to do this as a personal challenge; to prove to myself that you can teach an old dog new tricks,” he said. “I totally enjoy the diversity of the dancers, coming from all walks of Bothell life.”

The event is at 7:30 p.m. at Northshore Performing Arts Center located on Bothell High School’s campus.
