Dr. Maze’s Farm will kick off its first season with a Botanical Celebration & Family Fun at The South 47 Farm (15410 N.E. 124th St., Redmond) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday, July 9-11.
Visitors can tour the farm on a hay wagon, feed the goats and alpacas, cut U-pick lavender and herbs, attend an herb or lavender craft demo, watch a chef’s demo (Saturday only) and shop for soaps, lotions, chamomile tea, essential oils and mists and other items produced with botanicals grown and distilled on the farm.
Children’s activities include Farm Tots, a class for children 5 and under accompanied by a parent or guardian. Tots will take a hayride, enjoy an art/nature class, and pick lavender or sunflowers. Farm Tots will be held from 10:30-11:30 a.m. each day ($7/child).
The celebration will also feature live music, kettle corn and other refreshments, herb and lavender plant sales, a mobile bookstore featuring books about food for all ages, a Tea Sandwich Contest (Sunday only), build-your-own herb garden pots, essential-oil distillation demonstrations, mini-mazes, gourd painting and more.
Admission is free; there is a charge for hayrides, Farm Tots and refreshments.
Dr. Maze (AKA Roger Calhoon), who previously managed The South 47 Farm, is now renting land there and running his own farm, specializing in botanicals and mazes. He’s growing a corn maze and pumpkin patch for harvest-time fun.
