• Srs. Jake Kragerud TE/C, Dalton Combs SS/FB: Pair of 4-year starters have the experience, leadership and ability to do great things.
• Jr. Daniel Watts, RB/LB: Fast and strong, looks to be the go-to guy for running plays.
KEY NEWCOMER
• Jr. Josh Ionesi, QB: Big, strong and fast, but has big shoes to fill after graduation of all-leaguer Justin Girgus.
DID YOU KNOW?
Last season, senior quarterback Justin Girgus had a phenomenal year, passing for 227.1 yards per game (2,498 for the year) while throwing 24 touchdowns. Girgus is currently playing football at Hamlin College in Minnesota, and fellow class of 2010 Eagles Riley O’Regan (Greenville College) and Eric Lund (Azusa Pacific University) both went on to play college ball.
QUOTABLE
“(Our outlook) is up in the air as a first-year coach, but I feel we have a great line on both sides of the ball and great senior leadership. We focus on character building, using football as a tool to get to kids’ hearts to challenge them to become men of Christ. Team unity, team building, working to maximize each athlete to strive for excellence.” – Eagles’ head coach Todd Parmenter
BIG GAME:
• Friday, Oct. 7 vs. Cascade Christian: This will be a very tough matchup against the defending 1A state champions, who reeled off a perfect 13-0 season in 2010. Though they graduated a lot, thee powerhouse program has plenty of depth to reload, and the Eagles will need to fire on all cylinders to stay competitive in this one.
