Veteran Bothell High School (BHS) volleyball coach Russ Kerwin will be inducted into the BHS Hall of Fame on Thursday for his outstanding record and dedication to the Cougar Athletics program.

Kerwin, who has been a Northshore School District teacher since 1972, was the head coach of the Cougars’ volleyball program from 1990-2005.

During his tenure at Bothell, he took seven BHS teams to the state tournament, with a high finish of eighth place (twice). Kerwin held a career win-loss record of 257-72 (.781) which included four years of undefeated teams and a streak of 56 undefeated matches.

He was also voted Coach of the Year seven times along with winning seven Kingco Championships and five District championships.

The induction will be held at 4:30 in the foyer of the gym before Bothell High School’s Senior Night on Thursday, and Kerwin will also be honored during the pre-game show on October 21 at Pop Keeney Stadium, the Cougars’ homecoming football game.

“Russ was a phenomenal volleyball coach,” said Yonni Mills, BHS athletic director. “The ‘Kerwin years’ were a shining star in Bothell’s sports history.”
