The Bothell High School football team kept on its winning ways Friday with a 49-14 victory against Redmond at Pop Keeney Stadium.

The Cougars got off to a fast start, scoring 21-unanswered points during the first quarter.

Sam McPherson took the opening kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown for Bothell. The Cougars pulled off a trick play during their next drive, as wide receiver Cameron Gale threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to Jackson Kemig.

The Cougar defense got into the scoring, as Ryan Monson ran back a blocked punt for a touchdown.

Redmond would show life, cutting the lead to 14 points with a 27-yard touchdown pass during its next possession.

But McPherson got all seven points right back for the Cougars, breaking free for a 68-yard touchdown run and a converted extra point by Rilyn Gherardini.

Bothell scored on its next three possessions, including a nine-yard touchdown pass from Ross Bowers to Dayzell Wilson, a 44-yard touchdown run by McPherson and a the first touchdown of the season from sophomore running back Damani St. Johns-Watkins from 15-yards out.

During the game, McPherson went over the 100-yard mark on the ground and 200 all-purpose yards.

Bothell improves to 4-1 on the season with the victory and will play Glacier Peak at 7 p.m. in Snohomish on Friday.
