The City of Kenmore and design consultant Hewitt Architects will host a series of public workshops seeking input from the skateboarding community.
The first workshop will be held on Tuesday, June 10 at 7 p.m. at Kenmore City Hall, located at 18120 68th Ave. NE. The city is in the preliminary stages in designing a new skate court and is seeking direct feedback from end users on what they would like to see incorporated into the park. The remaining two workshops are scheduled for Tuesday, July 8 and Tuesday, July 29 beginning at 6 p.m. at Kenmore City Hall.
The new skate court will relocate to City Hall and replace the Jack V. Crawford Skate Park previously located just west of City Hall. The skate court will keep the dedicated name of Jack V. Crawford, the City’s first mayor. The original site at the former park and ride parking lot at 68th Ave. NE and NE 182nd St. was sold by the City to MainStreet Property Group LLC to make way for the new Spencer 68 residential development now underway. The skate court facility was surplused by the city in April of 2014 when it was determined that relocating the equipment to the city hall site as planned would not be successful due to its age and condition.
